Teams to Laugh At:

This has been a hilarious season in college football...let's recap all of the great moments.

Preseason #5 Michigan loses too (Division Formerly Known as 1-AA) Appalachian State, at home. Seriously. Wow. Way to go, boys. Bo is proud.

Louisville loses to Syracuse, at home. The Cuse had already been blown out by Illinois and Washington, at the Carrier Dome. Good thing Brohm came back for his senior year. Hellllllloooooooo Heisman.

Notre Dame is 0-4 (for the first time in 119 years), with loses to Georgia Tech, Penn State, Michigan and Michigan State. And by this time tomorrow they will be 0-5. Good thing Charlie got that contract extension.

(Division Formerly Known as 1-AA) Northern Iowa beats Iowa State...Iowa State beats Iowa. Panthers claim the Cy-Hawk trophy...take one look at it, and give it back. But seriously...UNI is the best team in the state.

(What a shitty trophy...seriously)

Friday Tailgate

After a little hiatus...somebody has driven me back to blogging. Let's do this.

Game of the Week:
Cal @ Oregon

Prediction: Ducks by 10, 45-35

I think the combination of Autzen and the Ducks athleticism will be too much for an over-hyped Cal team.

Fight On
Southern Cal @ Washington

Prediction: Trojans by 3, in overtime, 41-38

USC defense has been unable to pressure the QB without blitzing, and Lockerzilla will not make their job any easier. Locker will make some mistakes that ultimately cost UDub the game. USC defense holds Washington to a field goal in overtime, and Stanley Havili trots in for an easy TD on the Trojan's OT possession.

Cubbies Make the Playoffs!

Oh boy, here we go again.

DA BEARS!

Although this is a college football blog, I can't help but recognize the fact the my Chicago Bears have made it to the Super Bowl (for the first time in my lifetime, I might add).

BEAR DOWN, CHICAGO BEARS!

Rest In Peace, Mario

Late Saturday night it was reported, and confirmed, that USC placekicker Mario Danelo was found dead at the bottom of a cliff in San Pedro, CA. Mario was just 21 years old. Prayers and thoughts are with the Danelo family during these tough times, and the entire Trojan Family is grieving the loss along with them. Mario was a great kid, and a great Trojan...he will be forever missed.

This is the second tragic loss for the Trojan Family in just 8 months, as Ryan Francis was shot and killed last Mother's Day weekend.

Notre Dame Loses Their Bowl Game...Again

This chart has been floating around the internet for a while, and it just seems logical to post it tonight. I'm not sure who to give credit for this masterful piece of work, but thank you! 9 straight bowl losses for the Irish! Fight on!

Saban to Arizona?

Wednesday morning, Nick Saban was announced as the new head football coach for the University of Alabama. By Wednesday afternoon, reports from Glendale, AZ surfaced that the coach was being heavily pursued as the next head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, who recently fired coach Dennis Green. Although Saban would not confirm these rumors at his press conference in Tuscaloosa, he did immediately board the private jet that Alabama just purchased for him and flew to Arizona. The offer from Arizona reportedly includes paying out his remaining contract with Alabama, complete control of the franchise, and a bathtub made out of Waterford crystal. More on this story as it develops.

Instructions For Lions' Fans: 2007

Well, despite leading the Detroit Lions to the worst 6-year record in the history of the National Football League (24-72), Matt Millen will be returning as team president in 2007. Millen's teams have lost at least 10 games in each of his six seasons and never finished higher than third in their division, including a 3-13 last place record this season. Millen is in the second year of a five-year contract, and dont be surprised if this is not his last. Millen quoted as saying, "I'll never quit." And for that, he deserves a big Fight on!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2717730

Now, as a Bears' fan, I dont usually have any sympathy for the Packers, Lions or Vikings. But seeing as how Lions' fans have been forced to endure one of the worst decades in the history of the NFL, I felt like I should throw some charity their way. I have included (below) instructions on how to numb the pain of this endless losing, and if done correctly, completely erase the memory of the Millen era from you mind.

Michigan Playbook Revealed

I know the announcers said that Michigan only ran two plays...but I thought they were kidding!

2007 Rose Bowl Champs!

Great game by the Trojans - dominating on all sides of the ball. It was great to finally see this talented passing game click on all cylinders - great game by Booty, DJ, SSmith and McFoy! USC-Michigan is the best bowl matchup in all of college football, and I wouldnt mind seeing a regular season series between these two traditional powers in the near future! A great season by the Wolverines, they have a lot to be proud of - and a lot to be excited about for next season!

A special congrats to all of the seniors and departing juniors! Great way to end your careers! Fight on!

The 30-Second News

Recent reports have highly-touted QB recruit Jimmy Clausen decommitting from Notre Dame, and instead giving his verbal to the University of Oregon. He cites the new "flame" helmets as the main reason for this decision, saying, "I want to be flaming every time I step on the field."

I'll Take One of Whatever He Just Had

Now I can't guarantee that this is a Michigan fan...but here is the video's description (posted the night of the loss to TSIW):

"#2 USC LOSES TO UNRANKED UCLA 13-9 AND MISSES OUT ON CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. MICHIGAN SLIPS BACK IN AND WILL PLAY OHIO STATE AGAIN FOR THE TITLE. YA BABY! GO BLUE!!"

Either it's a Michigan fan - which would be pretty funny considering they got jumped in the polls - or it's a Bruin fan - which would just make a lot more sense.

Who Says American Girls Are Boring?

Some recent news reports have suggested that Miss USA and Miss Teen USA were seen at a New York club drinking and kissing each other. W..w..wait...are you serious? THE Miss USA and Miss Teen USA...the girls with the sashes and tiaras? It's official folks, the United States is officially in the Paris Hilton era. Officially. And thanks to YouTube, Generation X gets to watch.

(Baby) Blue Saturday

The Bruins beat the Trojans this weekend - the second loss for the Men of Troy in their last two trips to Pasadena. An especially sad loss for Play Tusk!, as Trojan fans were unable to enjoy the namesake of this site on Saturday. In addition, the mascot of this site, the Victory Bell, has been handed back to the boys of Westwood - and repainted in the most obnoxious color this side of Irish green...baby blue.

It is not all bad news for our Trojans - they are still Pac 10 champions for a record 5th straight season. Oh yeah, and they have a date with the Wolverines at the Grandaddy on News Year Day.

In response to the loss...and the regeneration of a rivalry that has been relatively lame for the better part of the last 15 years...this website has started a Countdown Clock recognizing the date at which we will return our precious bell to its rightful color of Cardinal. In addition, that school in Westwood will no longer be referred to by name - I just can't stand to write it.

Fight on and Beat the Wolverines! Let's bring another Rose Bowl Championship back to Troy!

PLAY TUSK!

It's UCLA week...which means it is time to Play Tusk non-stop for the entire week. So here goes...this version coming from the TMB's performance at the Grammy's with Fleetwood Mac! Fight on! U-C-L-A Sucks!
